DESCRIPTION:Optix is excited to welcome The Hero Litter\, four Labrador retriever puppies whose training will support their efforts to become service dogs for deserving Veterans in Western North Carolina.  Founded in 2006\, Paws & Effect is celebrating their expansion into our community.  With more than 100 service dog teams successfully partnered in the upper Midwest\, we are looking forward to the good that will come from their presence here. \nDr. Walters has had a passion for serving the veteran community for the 20 year duration of her practice\, Optix Eye Care.  We accept direct referrals from the VA medical center for routine vision care and also provide specialized follow up care. We also participate with all TriCare plans for active duty military and retired veterans. \n\nWe are hosting a puppy kissing booth on October 31st\, between 1-3pm.  The Hero Litter will be joining us with their tail wags to share some of their new skills.  This experience is especially enriching for the puppies as they will have an opportunity to play with children.  Both children and puppies will be guided towards appropriate interactions with fun for all!\n

A huge thank you to the Weaverville Business Association for putting together this fun filled opportunity for our community. We will have a booth set up at the event so make sure to come by and say hello! If you are interested in Volunteering and helping make this event even better you can sign up here. \nWeaverville’s Music on Main is an open air\, one night concert event on Main Street in Weaverville featuring up-and-coming local band The Broadcast with Raising Caine.  The concert will take place in front of Town Hall (30 South Main Street\, Weaverville\, NC 28787) from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday\, June 23\, 2017.  The event is free and open to the public.  It is brought to the community by the Weaverville Business Association and the Music on Main Sponsors. \nThe Broadcast\, formed in Brooklyn 2007\,  is a rock and soul band that relocated to Asheville\, NC to do some soul-searching.  They boast an authentic soul\, blues and rock sound and have shared the stage with the likes of Mavis Staples\, John Prine\, St. Paul & The Broken Bones\, The Wood Brothers\, Brandi Carlisle\, Keller Williams\, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers\, George Porter Jr. (Funky Meters).  Their sophomore record released this June\, From The Horizon\, was produced by Jim Scott who has worked with the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Tom Petty and to rave reviews. \nOpening for The Broadcast is Raising Caine\, an Americana band fronted by lead singer-songwriter and Asheville native\, Caine McDonald. Members of the band come from many musical backgrounds but their sound is distinctly rooted in Appalachia. \nThere will be food\, drink\, kids activities and booths.  Local restaurants will be open all along Main Street.  Traffic will be stopped between Merrimon Avenue and Brown Street.  Parking is free at Weaverville Primary School. \nCome join us! Music on Main is not to be missed!!
