Eye Care Services

We are confident that we can provide the eye care you need. Below you’ll find a list of some of the key eye care services that our optometric practice offers.

Comprehensive Eye Exam

A refraction, the procedure that gives your prescription, is only one part of a comprehensive eye exam. We recommend an annual eye exam for all of our patients. During your eye exam, the doctor will check not only your vision, but your overall eye health through a series of tests and the use of specialized equipment. This allows Dr. Walters to screen for ocular disease which could affect your health and vision for years to come.

Digital Eye Strain

As technology advances and becomes a larger part of our daily lives, we are using our eyes like never before. Digital Eye Strain describes eye and vision related issues developed from prolonged computer use. Common complaints associated with Digital Eye Strain are eyestrain, headaches, blurred vision, dry eyes, and neck and shoulder pain and can be caused by a combination of uncorrected vision issues, incorrect viewing distance and posture, and lighting and glare.

Macular Degeneration

Macular Degeneration, often times referred to as Age-Related Macular Degeneration or AMD, has historically been associated with advancing age. This disease causes damage to the macula which can result in the decline or loss of central vision.

Management of Ocular Disease

Prevention and early detection are key to a positive prognosis for ocular diseases. Often, patients will not experience symptoms of ocular disease until it has reached an advanced stage. An annual comprehensive eye exam is the most powerful tool in early detection and management of ocular disease.

Dry Eye Center of Excellence

Dry Eye Syndrome (DES) is a common ocular complaint which falls under two categories: aqueous deficient, where patients do not produce an adequate amount of tears, and evaporative, where the tears that are produced are of poor quality. Symptoms of Dry Eye may include, but are not limited to, irritated, gritty, or burning eyes, a feeling of something in the eyes, excess watering, and blurred vision.

Contact Lenses

Optix Eye Care strives to offer the most current technology in contact lenses. Dr. Walters is able to fit a wide variety of contact lenses. We offer soft lenses that range from monthly, bi-monthly, to daily disposable lenses which can correct most visual issues.
